StreetSmart Urges Restaurants to Help Tackle Rising Rates of Rough Sleeping This Festive Season

Article supplied by Street Smart Australia

From 1st – 31st December, DineSmart , a concept by StreetSmart, invites restaurants to join in by adding an optional $2 donation to every bill. It’s a simple proposition that turns festive goodwill into life changing action- and costs venues nothing to implement. For diners, it’s just $2, but the collective impact is enormous.

Every donation collected from diners helps fund local, grassroots organisations that provide essential services, from housing to mental health support, helping people transition from the streets into secure housing. These organisations are trusted in their communities and are often the first place people turn in times of crisis. With a 23% increase in rough sleeping reported by StreetSmart, the call for support couldn’t be more timely.

Getting involved couldn’t be easier. It’s effortless for venues, as they are provided with promotional materials to help activate the campaign and diners love knowing that their small contribution is making a real difference. A business boost, also doesn’t go amiss. With the backing of Media Partner, Broadsheet, and Presenting Partner, Lightspeed, participating venues can expect to gain visibility and foot traffic through a nationwide campaign.

We’re incredibly lucky to have long-term supporters like the Mulberry Group, Commune GroupTipo 00 and Lake House Daylesford, who’ve championed DineSmart for years, and we’re excited to welcome newcomers like Rumi and Ten Minutes by Tractor too” says Liz Bayrak, Campaign and Events Coordinator at StreetSmart.  “It’s very inspiring to see so many businesses eager to use their platform for good. I can’t wait to see the positive impact we achieve together this year” says Liz Bayrak, Campaign and Events Coordinator at StreetSmart.

Fine Food Australia is proud to support initiatives like StreetSmart that demonstrate the foodservice industry’s commitment to giving back to local communities.
