Show Time – Day 1
And we’re off! Today marked the first day of the 31st Fine Food Australia, and what a day it’s been. After many exhibitors pulling all nighters to get their stands ready, our doors opened this morning to eager visitors from all walks of the foodservice industry.
For the first time at Olympic Park, Sydney Showground has proven a fitting home for the show, enabling easy access to each Zone and a great layout to explore every aspect of what is undoubtably the nation’s favourite foodservice event.
Far from a slow start, the competitions that we’re known for kicked off with a bang and on all corners of the show floor contestants were battling it out. Visitors followed their noses to the delicious scents coming from Bake Skills Australia where bread was the order of the day. Then to the Fonterra Battle of the Pacific where SA, Victoria and NSW Chefs launched the competition in the live kitchen. Notable food bloggers Chewtown and He Needs Food also stopped by to see the action firsthand, and Olivia Andrews, cookbook author and the woman behind MasterChef, also visited to show.
Our speaker sessions also got started, with Austrade representative Gary Dawes over at the Ask the Experts Advisory Centre, and those in need of a drink got first hand knowledge of the subject at our new Wine Experience and Beer & Cider talks thanks to the Judges’ Tutorials from the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW.
With so much going on there wasn’t enough time for many to see everything, so we can’t wait for tomorrow when we get to do it all again along with some brand new experiences!
