There’s no doubt about it, meat pies and sausage rolls are an Aussie icon! So, with this in mind, we are excited to welcome the Official Great Aussie Pie Competition back to this year’s Fine Food Australia. Now in its 35th year, this industry-endorsed competition provides an opportunity for bakers, pastrycooks, chefs, butchers, apprentices, and more to compete for the sought-after titles of Australia’s Official Greatest Meat Pie, Australia’s Official Greatest Gourmet Pie, Australia’s Official Greatest Plain Sausage Roll, and Australia’s Official Greatest Gourmet Sausage Roll & Australia’s Official Greatest Pastie, along with a range of gold, silver, and bronze medals. Run annually by the Aussie Pie Council, the competition is well known throughout the country for providing awesome publicity and promoting award-winning pies and sausage rolls, resulting in increased profit for the winning businesses.

The Official Great Aussie Pie Competition has built pride among bakers, chefs, and butchers while establishing passion in the art of pie-making and forming an industry benchmark for excellence. Spectators can expect to learn where to get the greatest pies and sausage rolls from in Australia, witness judging of the competition, and find out who will take out the four major titles for the 35th Official Great Aussie Pie Competition. A CLASSIC FINE FOOD EVENT

It’s well known that winning medals at this highly regarded event can be paramount in the promotion of every bakery.

Now in its 35th year, this competition has on many occasions turned small pie producers into million-dollar businesses.

Greatest Meat Pie

Plain meat pies! (Plain, mince, chunky or combo)
No vegetables are allowed except for onion.

Greatest Gourmet Pie

Gourmet Pies; Red Meat, Poultry, Pork, Game, Vegetarian/Vegan, Seafood, Gluten Free, Apple, Brekkie, Slow Cooked/Smoked BBQ, Shepherd’s/Potato Top Pie.

Greatest Plain Sausage Roll

The greatest plain sausage roll, beef, pork, or a combination of both in a puff pastry case. Some onion, carrot, herbs, and breadcrumbs may be added for flavour and texture, other vegetables are not permitted.

Greatest Gourmet Sausage Roll

Unlimited entries are allowed by each establishment. Any gourmet filling is accepted including Game, Poultry, Vegetarian, Red Meat, and Gluten Free etc.
