Treat Yourself

Aug 12, 2015

Fine Food Australia is the annual foodservice event that celebrates, creates and indulges in the best of the foodservice industry. The 2015 event in Sydney is as big as ever and it’s shaping up to be a smorgasbord of stages and showcases featuring the best, brightest, newest and tastiest things from the industry – and one of the sweetest places to be? Bakery World, of course!

A dedicated space for all things baking, the ever popular Bakery World is offering up a bevy of new surprises this year, including demonstrations of quality bakery equipment, Bake Skills Australia, Live Bakery and the dearly loved Official Great Aussie Pie Competition, and for its second year, the Sausage Roll Competition. The annual pie competition attracts the best bakers from across the country, with the competition taking four days of judging from an elite team of 16. With ten categories of pies to judge and the title of best in the land at stake, this truly is a great Aussie comp of epic portions.

Similarly, apprentices from each state in the country are readying their culinary craft to take on each other in the Bake Skills Australia competition. Back this year to find the 2015 champion, apprentices will face 26 different categories of baking product as they whisk, roll or sprinkle their way to the top. This year’s displays have special significance too, themed to celebrate the ANZACs. From puff pastries, to pretzels and even a Croquembouche, Bake Skills Australia will be a platform for some of Fine Food’s most spectacular taste sensations and the apprentices behind them.

The Live Bakery will be an exciting place for budding bakers to stop, with a great line-up of events showcasing new recipes, offering great advice and cooking demonstrations. From gourmet sausage rolls to a demonstration creating delicious cream filling using vegetable solite to new custilla examples, the Live Bakery will be an important place for bakers to learn from the experienced EOI team. This year also hosts the ‘Spin & Win’ wheel promotion – with the chance for visitors to win great prizes.

When the heat of the competitive kitchens gets too much, the delights of the Bakery World floor await – it’s an exciting and delicious stop within Fine Food Australia – offering anything a baker or related businesses will need. Some of the delicious product on offer includes National Pie’s newly launched Tiny Pies and Bite Size Coffee Treats launching two new ranges to their morsel sized but massively delicious products.

The Bulla Pastry Stage will be anchored by celebrated and internationally respected pastry chef Kirsten Tibballs, demos and exhibitions include: éclairs – mastering the art of the next big trend in patisserie; the refreshing and healthy treats of fruity modern cakes and everyone’s favourite – brownies – restyled into delicious cake bars.

Of course Kirsten won’t be leading the delicacy discussion alone – she’ll be joined by renowned pastry chefs Marike van Beurden and Anna Polyviou. No doubt, the Bulla Family Dairy stage will be a necessary and absolutely delicious stop at Fine Food Australia.
