Queensland’s Burger Urge expands into NSW

Apr 3, 2017

Written by foodservice Magazine. Proof that Australian’s love for burgers is not subsiding, Brisbane-based burger chain Burger Urge has announced the opening of its first store outside Queensland.

Setting up shop in Glendale, near Newcastle, the new burger joint helps to expand the Burger Urge brand from being a Queensland-only based franchise to a national company sporting 20+ stores.

Head of Property at Burger Urge, Matt Manzie, says, “Burger Urge are growing into NSW as a part of national growth strategy.

“It is a logical next step from our Queensland base and will be used as a stepping stone into the Sydney market.

“Newcastle’s strong and diverse economy and vibrant community attracted us to the area along with our long trading relationship with our franchise operator.

“Our second NSW store is to be located in Port Macquarie and will be operational in June this year.”

The new Burger Urge Glendale will be operated by Largs residents Chris and Katrina Schafferious.

Chris Schafferious says, “I recognised this opportunity about three years ago.

“It’s a town of hard working people who like to have a good time and we want to fully support this by bringing a young, energetic, fun brand who delivers great tasting burger every time.”
