Knead to Know for the Industry

Jun 24, 2014

In 2014, the country’s most anticipated and highly attended trade event for the food industry returns to Melbourne to celebrate its 30th birthday! A veritable candy store for those in the baking industry, Fine Food Australia is the largest and most relevant food and hospitality event – and with a dedicated Bakery World at the event, it’s also the premier destination for the bakery industry.

Always known to rise to the occasion, a strong contingent of bakeries and bakery suppliers will be represented, showcasing the latest products, equipment and ingredients. In addition, exciting competitions and show features give visitors a different view into the fun of the bakery industry.

Baking highlights across the show include a crowd favourite – the Official Great Aussie Pie Competition. This 25-year old institution promotes and celebrates Australia’s much-loved icon, the perfect pie, and the annual Competition is open to all pie making professionals. Attracting thousands of entries from bakers across Australia, the Competition is highly regarded by the baking industry and represents the pinnacle of pie making excellence. Winning a medal at the Competition, the original and biggest nationally recognised pie competition in Australia, is the ultimate goal of many pie-making professionals. As a result, the standard of entries is high, with the awards being hotly contested.

But the industry rivalry doesn’t stop there! Within the exciting Bake Skills area, apprentice bakers from each state are invited to compete in a live bakery challenge across 26 different product categories including specialty and artisan breads. Visitors will have the opportunity to watch – and if they are lucky, even taste – as the competition unfolds throughout the show.

If the heat gets too much, get out of the competition kitchen and browse the dedicated Bakery World. The ideal place to source all your baking needs, Bakery World offers everything from bakery ingredients, pies and pastry products, bakery equipment, display equipment, cakes and biscuits and much more. A wide range of bakery equipment will be showcased at Bakery World including ovens, mixers, dividers, rounder and moulders, chillers & freezers, display cabinets, slicers and much more.

In addition to a key focus on bakery, Fine Food Australia showcases everything from specialty and bulk foods, beverages, cooking and hospitality equipment and machinery, coffee and emerging food trends. The business benefits of attending include educational master classes, Q&As with key industry figures, demonstrations,  as well as the opportunity to build relationships, drive business, and be inspired about this incredible industry.
